When You Heal Today, You Also Heal Backward and Forward

As a soul having a human experience, your journey comes with the unfortunate repercussion of carrying the emotional wounds of those from your past ancestral line. Whatever traumas happened to the ancestors in your bloodline will carry through you until someone in that bloodline heals those wounds. The good news is, if you take the time to dig in and heal yourself, you’re also healing the past and the future.

That means that if you heal yourself in the present, you are actually sending that same healing back through the bloodline of all of the folks in your ancestry affected by or at the root of that trauma, and even better, you’re also sending it forward.

If you’re unsure about what I’m talking about, consider some idiosyncrasies in your personality or thought processes that just don’t add up. Do you have any irrational fears or tendencies that don’t match up with any experiences in your life? Bingo. It’s more than likely that the roots of those reactions and emotions began way before you were born and were passed on to and through you. Unfortunately, this also means that you will pass on those wounds, and even your own, to your children, and their children, and so on.

When I was born into this world, I carried the emotional wounds of my mother, my grandmother, my great-grandmother, and those before her. I carried those wounds with me as I gave birth to my daughter and then passed them on to her. I know this sounds so morbid and pessimistic but there’s a wonderful silver lining to this. As I said, if you take your healing journey seriously, that healing will occur in a tridirectional order. How amazing is that?? I’ve put a lot (like…a lot) of time and energy into my own healing and knowing that my efforts will allow my daughter to skip over those wounds is like a hug for my soul.

You’re an ancestral healer and you didn’t even know it! Take a moment and digest that. It’s pretty magical and it puts a whole new spin on self-care, evolving, and doing the work.

Now, get to work!
